“’Morning,” David greeted Colby as the junior agent sleepily emerged from the bedroom.
“Not yet,” Colby muttered and let out a long yawn. His eyes landed on the plate of food in front of David. “What are you eating?”
“Last night’s red beans and rice.”
“For breakfast?”
“Man cannot survive on Starbucks alone. And I made it with lots of Tabasco; come gimme a kiss.” David put a forkful into his mouth, puckered his lips, and leaned towards Colby.
“Eww, get away. Tabasco and morning breath? Not sexy.”
David finished chewing and swallowed. “Yeah, just you wait. 3:00 will roll around, we’ll be chasing somebody down, and you’ll be wishing you had that kiss.”
“Fine,” Colby conceded and pressed his lips together, leaning into David.
David pulled back. “Nuh-uh. Offer rescinded. I am a fine ass brother; you should never hesitate for some of this.”
“So now you’re going to punish me?” Colby reached in and grabbed a slice of sausage off David’s plate.
“You’re damn right. And quit,” David slapped Colby’s hand, “stealing my food.”
Colby grinned and held in a laugh as he popped the sausage into his mouth. A few seconds later, his face went red. “Fuck, I hate Tabasco.” He stepped quickly to the sink, grabbed a glass from the cabinets, and filled himself a tall glass of water, chugging it down.
“That’s what you get.” David sounded satisfied. “That is what you get.”
“How much of that shit did you put on there?” Colby coughed out.
“A generous amount.”
“No kidding.” Colby coughed again. “I think I’m dying.”
“And wouldn’t that be some fucked up karma.”
“For not kissing you?”
“No, for you falling asleep last night.”
Colby got a far-off look on his face as he jogged his memory. “Oh, yeah. Shit. Sorry about that. But it was only for a second.”
“Man, when I am going down on you, you do not fall asleep. Do I not satisfy you? ‘Cause I know I got my style on lock.”
“No, no, it was that it felt really good. I slipped off to heaven.”
“Well, the next time your ass slips off to heaven, you better stay there, or I’ll send you there permanently myself.”
Colby laughed. “Come on, it could have been a lot worse.”
“How’s that?”
“Think of every bad thing that could happen when you’re giving someone head.”
David paused to consider the list. “You do have a point.”
“I’ll make it up to you tonight.”
“Damn right, you will. I want a nice dinner, dessert, a movie… champagne…” Colby’s smile spread as David continued on. “Some flowers, a bubble bath… a massage… some Barry White grooving on the stereo… chocolate… feathers… those furry handcuffs…”
“Okay, okay, I got it. I owe you.” Colby put up his hands in defeat. David stared at Colby for a long time. “What? What is it?”
“I like you, Granger.”
Colby blushed, knowing what David was trying to say. “Well, I like you, too, Sinclair.”
“I think I might have to keep you around. You know, for when I need help lifting heavy things.”
“I’m definitely good for that.”
They sat together in silence in the kitchen for several long moments then grabbed their gear and headed separately for the office.
